Lemon Marmalade Gin Spritzer

When it comes to making cocktails I like to keep it simple and for the most part I lean towards recipes that include fresh squeezed lemons or limes. I absolutely love citrus flavors so it came as no surprise when my friend Vanessa gifted me a jar of all natural lemon marmalade that she picked up while on a trip to Germany. Since receiving this jar of lemon marmalade I have been inspired to use it in a fresh and lemon-y cocktail. While it may seem out of the ordinary to sweeten your cocktail with marmalade, it made perfect sense to me since it serves as an easy two-in-one ingredient, adding both sweetness and natural lemon flavor.

Lemon is one of those flavors that pairs well with multiple alcohols, but for this cocktail I have paired it with gin (though, you could easily substitute the gin for vodka). Using gin, fresh squeezed lemon, a bit of lemon marmalade, a splash or two of lemon seltzer and a garnish of rosemary I created a refreshing and smooth cocktail that I’m sure will be on repeat for the next few gatherings with friends.

Lemon Marmalade Gin Spritzer  [makes 1 cocktail]

2 oz. your favorite gin (I chose Hendrick’s)
.5  oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 to 1 whole tablespoon lemon marmalade (depending on how sweet you like your cocktails)

[shake and pour over ice]

Add a splash or two of lemon seltzer and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and lemon wedge.
