Chocolate Almond Butter Banana Nice Cream

Every so often when perusing Whole Foods I am lured into buying a pint of Arctic Zero ice-cream. If you haven’t tasted Arctic Zero for yourself, I recommend you do as it is a great alternative to ice-cream that is low in calories, low in sugar, protein dense and really hits the spot anytime you are looking for something sweet. The one down-sides to this ice-cream alternative is that it is a bit pricey to rationalize having it in my freezer on the reg. To satisfy my cravings for something sweet and ice-creamy I have begun experimenting with making at-home banana nice cream (a vegan banana-based “icecream”) and I think I have finally found my perfect recipe!

This incredibly simple version of banana nice cream is elevated with a healthy dose of chocolate Vega Protein and Greens powder (plant-based) and almond butter. There are no additional sweeteners and you even get an extra serving of greens thanks to the Vega Protein and Greens. While this nice cream is particularly a great way to start or end your end, it is great any time of day and can easily be modified to meet your flavor preferences.

Ingredients (serves 1)

1.5 bananas, peeled, sliced and frozen overnight

almond butter

1 tablespoon almond butter

1/2 scoop Chocolate Vega Protein and Green

pinch of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of water (if the nice cream is too thick for your liking)

Step 1: Mix it up in a blender, food processor or Magic Bullet!
