The season of holidays and over-eating is in full swing. Maybe it’s because shorts and tank top season has ended or maybe it’s because the holiday season has me craving comfort foods but I am finding it extremely
hard to keep the eating under control. Whatever the reason, it’s rare that a holiday gathering or meal doesn’t end with something sweet. On the one hand, I want to have the will power to resist dessert and on the other hand I don’t want to deprive myself and miss out on fully enjoy the holiday season. Whether you are hosting or attending a gathering, I have a great cookie recipe for you that is party appropriate (aka not overly modified) and acknowledges both the desire to treat yourself and to not overdo it on sweets that are overloaded with sugar and butter.
For Thanksgiving with my family I made these oatmeal cookies with some slight modifications (i.e. I swapped 1 cup of craisins for 1/2 cup raisins + 1/3 cup walnuts) that are chewy, sweet and the perfect end to a holiday meal. To view the recipe, click here.
