Having lived in a tiny apartment for several years now I have come to value a clutter-free lifestyle. While it can be difficult to maintain, I make it a habit to do regular de-clutters each season and aim to stick to three foolproof tips to keep things calm, cool and de-cluttered on a daily basis. I hope you find these tips to be helpful!

  1. Function Comes First

Take inventory of the furniture and large accessories you have in your space. If you have larger items that aren’t actively serving a purpose it may be time to reconsider whether or not to hold onto it. For example, it may be time to say goodbye to that broken shoe rack in your entry way or the decorative poof that has NEVER been used. Handing these items off to a friend or putting the item in storage (aka your parent’s basement) 😉 are two good options.

  1. De-dup

This is a tip that I wish I adopted earlier in life. You’d be surprised how many duplicates you have of various items. Think throw blankets, kitchen tools, similar clothing (who really needs 5 black cardigans?), body products that are crowded up your bathroom storage space, etc.

  1. Have a Space for Everything

It is helpful to have a designated place for both personal and household items. Not only does this help you find things easier it makes it even easier to put things back where you got them. The easier it is to clean up or put things back to where they belong the more likely I am to do it!

Do you have any tips for keeping your space (small or large) clutter-free?
